EV & Hybrid Servicing

EV & Hybrid Servicing

Servicing built for electric and hybrid cars.

Electric cars have no engine oil to change, but they still need regular servicing. Brakes, brake fluid, tyres, suspension, the cabin filter, the coolant that keeps the battery at the right temperature and the small 12V battery all need checking. Hybrids also have a petrol or diesel engine that needs normal servicing. Any work on the high-voltage system is only done by a mechanic trained to work on it safely.

What an EV or hybrid service covers

These are the main checks and jobs in an electric or hybrid car service:

  • Brakes checked, including discs that can corrode from light use
  • Brake fluid condition checked and replaced when due
  • Coolant level and condition for the battery and motor
  • 12V battery tested
  • Tyres checked for wear, since electric cars are heavy
  • Suspension, steering and lights checked
  • Cabin (pollen) filter replaced when due
  • Engine oil and filter for hybrids, to the maker's schedule

Frequently asked questions

Do electric cars need servicing?

Yes. There is no oil to change, but brakes, brake fluid, tyres, suspension, coolant, the 12V battery and the cabin filter all need regular checks to keep the car safe and reliable.

Why do EV brake discs rust?

Electric cars slow down mostly with regenerative braking, so the brake discs are used less and can corrode. Regular checks catch this before it affects braking.

Does servicing affect my battery warranty?

Many manufacturers ask for the car to be serviced to their schedule to keep the warranty valid. Check your handbook, and keep the service record from every job.

Do hybrids need normal servicing too?

Yes. A hybrid has a petrol or diesel engine as well as the electric motor, so it needs engine oil, filters and the usual checks, as well as checks on the hybrid parts.

When do I pay?

Payment arrangements are shown during booking. Your card is only charged once the work has been completed.
